Alec Baldwin Denies Boycotting Last Night's Primetime Emmys
By Michele Yeo
Alec Baldwin is dismissing talk he boycotted last night's Emmys. In an interview with our Roz Weston, the suave “30 Rock” star squashes rumours he skipped the ceremony because one of his jokes was cut from the opening sketch.
In fact, Alec says he never planned to attend the show, citing a prior commitment hosting a Tony Bennett fundraising event: “I was already, since a year ago, not going to the Emmys because I was committed to another project.”
But that doesn’t mean the actor was happy his joke hit the cutting room floor. He had made a quip about NewsCorp CEO, Rupert Murdoch and his company’s wiretapping scandal that Emmy producers later scrapped.
“We shot the segment with this joke and then they cut the joke out of it afterwards so I just asked that they eliminate my whole piece which they did,” he explains.
As for his Emmy defeat last night, Alec says he never expected to win Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series: “I was a thousand percent convinced (Steve) Carell was going to win.”
Of course Jim Parsons of “The Big Bang Theory” walked away with the hardware.
Alec, of course, already has two Emmys on his mantle for his work on “30 Rock.” The show returns early next year for a sixth season.
And even though he had previously said season six would be his last, he tells Roz he’s not ruling out signing on for more. “I certainly would think about that,” he says. “I love the show and it’s been the greatest experience I’ve ever had.”
Katy Perry Thinks Pink in InStyle
Katy Perry is a real pink lady on the October cover of InStyle. The playful singer sports long fuchsia locks in the mag. Katy’s already had blonde, brown, black and blue hair so why not, right?
Inside the mag, the California girl offers up some beauty secrets including details about her unusual makeup chair. “I ordered a special chair from the dentist so I can lie back and wake up looking like a million bucks,” spills the star. “I call it my Sleeping Beauty makeup.”
Katy also dishes on hilarious hubby Russell Brand. If you were hoping for the playful pair to become a trio anytime soon, sorry to disappoint you, the singer says she’s not planning on having a baby in the near future. “Not yet,” says Katy. "I think if you’re married, it’s often in your future.”
The October edition of InStyle hits newsstands on Friday, but tune-in to ET Canada tonight for more behind-the-scenes footage of Katy’s retro-inspired photo session!
George Clooney On Turning 50, Failure & Philanthropy
The latest cover of PARADE is bound to take readers aback with George Clooney appearing to be running for President.
But of course this weekend's issue of the magazine plays up the actor's "The Ides of March" character, with the sub-head: "In his new movie at least."
Welcoming PARADE into his Italian villa, George is candid about turning 50, dealing with failure and his philanthropy work in South Sudan during the intimate chat.
He admits that since turning the big 5-0, he's now got a subscription to AARP: "By the time you get a subscription to AARP, which I just got, you have some idea of who your friends are, at least. I told them they should do 'The Sexiest Man Still Alive.'"
George also explains why he doesn't partake in social media: "I don't tweet, I don't go on Facebook. I think there's too much information about all of us out there. I'm liking the idea of privacy more and more."
And although his new girlfriend, Stacy Keibler, was present at his TIFF red carpet premieres, the hunky thesp says he doesn't kiss and tell. "I'll read something I've said about a woman somewhere. And I haven't spoken about my relationships in 15 years."
