Upcoming Release Of Michael Jackson's Posthumous Album Has Stars Speaking Out
Stars like Will.i.Am are speaking out about the scheduled release of the King of Pop's posthumous album, titled "Michael", next month and the launch of the new single "Hold My Hand" today.
The new duet that MJ and Akon record in 2007 was released Nov. 15 on www.michaeljackson.com and the new album's 10 tracks have also been unveiled.
"To say that what [Michael] contributed during his life wasn’t enough," The Black Eyed Peas frontman says. "He just wasn’t any ordinary artist. He was a hands-on person. To me it’s disrespectful. There’s no honouring."
“Michael Jackson songs are finished when Michael says they’re finished,” Will adds. “Maybe if I never worked with him I wouldn’t have this perspective. He was very particular about how he wanted his vocals, the reverb he used... he was that hands-on.”
Meanwhile, Lenny Kravitz and Akon have each spoken out on the new album featuring their duets "(I Can't Make It) Another Day" and "Hold My Hand", with Michael.
Lenny Tweeted on Nov. 9: "I have not heard the other tracks, I can only speak for "I Can't Make It Another Day" and let you know that it is 100 per cent Michael at his best and purely inspired. Respect always, Lenny."
Akon put the finishing touches on the new release of the single and comments: "The world was not ready to hear "Hold My Hand" when it leaked a couple years ago. We were devastated about it. But its time has definitely come; now in its final state, it has become an incredible, beautiful, anthemic song. I’m so proud to have had the chance to work with Michael, one of my all time idols.”
According to a press release from Sony Music Entertainment Canada: "A handwritten note from Michael belonging to his Estate indicated his desire that “Hold My Hand” be the first single on his next project."
